Any Magento developer will complain about the performance of the default Magento/luma theme. But why? Mainly because the JavaScript libraries are outdated, huge and clumsy to work with. With the Loki Theme, we simply wipe this out and start fresh. Luma can be fast. It simply requires you to let go of the bad parts.

Proofing that Luma is not dead yet
The initial start of the Loki Theme for Luma is quite simple: Bluntly remove all scripts and see what is broken. After this, things are fixed: Sometimes with CSS/HTML-only solutions. Sometimes by adding plain JavaScript components or Alpine.js components.
This solution has allowed us to gain excitingly fast performance of the Loki Checkout under Luma - faster than the competition (even though this might surprise you). Pages like static pages and the CMS pages are easily fixed as well. For product pages and category pages, more work is required. Because of that, this is work in progress. However, by gradually upgrading pages, you can already benefit from this.
